The Happy "Wonderer"

Friday

On the first day of the Cluster Assembly, registration was followed by the opening session from 2 to 6pm:

  • Sr. Barbara Rapp (Kentucky), member of the Executive Committee of the CCC and coordinator of the meeting, welcomed the group to St. Louis.
  • An opening prayer ritual celebrated and affirmed the Statement of Dominican Life & Mission (developed with Sisters' input from the September Gatherings)
  • Sr. Therese Leckert (New Orleans St. Mary), chair of the CCC, set the context for the meeting and reviewed the various discernment cycles of the Cluster process.
  • Facilitator Ruby Cribbin led the group in an exercise to get to know the other Sisters at our tables, then reviewed the agenda for the weekend.
  • Sr. Marie Jeanne Surette (Kentucky), Chair of the Resources subcommittee, showed a PowerPoint presentation of the statistical information we all received in the mail and explained some of the details surrounding the data. Her talk was followed by table discussions and some input to the larger group.
  • We then watched the video "Celebrate What's Right with the World" by Dewitt Jones. This inspirational film proposed that "celebrating what's right with the world" can help us recognize possibilities and find solutions for many challenges of life. Seven key concepts were brought forward in the film:
    - Believe it and you'll see it
    - Recognize abundance
    - Look for possibilities
    - Unlease your energy to fix what's wrong
    - Ride the changes
    - Take yourself to your edge
    - Be your best for the world
  • After table discussions, the meeting adjourned and the group enjoyed dinner together
