The purpose of the Sponsored Ministries Subcommittee was to explore the special relationships between the institutions and ministries of each congregation and the congregations.

Realizing that the congregations have different language to describe institutions with which they have special relationships, the subcommittee created a working definition of a "sponsored ministry" to assist them in their tasks. Their definition stated: A sponsored ministry is one with which a congregation has an ongoing relationship as well as the right and responsibility to ensure its Catholicity and Dominican charism. This relationship may or may not involve a financial commitment.

One of the subcommittee's principle accomplishments was a compilation ofvarious factual data on the sponsored ministries of Cluster congregations, which was distributed to the membership. This subcommittee accomplished its tasks and is no longer functioning.
